Rider Bio- Erik Dubey (aka Eggit2)

by Lalo on Apr.11, 2010, under people

Creativity is a mental process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the existing ideas or concepts, fueled by the process of either conscious or unconscious insight.

This is exactly what I thought of when I first laid eyes on some Bikeguide photos of Erik riding.  The dude does things his own way and doesn’t give a shit what people think.  When many riders out there try hard to follow trends and emulate their favorite pro, Erik stays true to himself and simply does what’s fun for him.  What I like about Erik’s riding is that it’s obvious he’s in it for the good times.  At the beginning every BMXer I know started riding for this reason. Sometimes we could all get lost in the minutia and forget why we started riding little kid’s bikes.  I can’t speak for everyone, but I did it for the same feeling that is captured in the photos of Mr. Dubey.  Being from Northern California you may have never met him, but considering his progressive style maybe one day you will.  All I know is that BMX needs more guys like him.

I caught up with Erik to ask some questions so we could all learn a little about him.  Here’s what he had to say…

Young Buck

Anthony Messere Solo edit from Anthony Messere on Vimeo.

In my mission to cover the up-and-comers I thought I’d post this edit I came across on Vimeo. I don’t know much about this kid other than the fact he kills it. I can’t tell but I’d guess he is 13-14 by the looks of him. I read that Macneil has their eye on him. I’m glad. He doesn’t hold out.
Check out his Vimeo page.

Bio- Jeremy Anderegg

by Lalo on Mar.09, 2010, under people

One of the ideas behind the Beacon is introduce unknown shredders who otherwise would not get any exposure.   Since visiting Bikeguide for the past year, I have come across several  jaw-dropping pictures by a fellow named Jeremy.  These pics have illustrated his progression over the last few months and it’s clear that Mr. BDSM Master has a bright future ahead of him. They could be bros #1

by Lalo on Mar.06, 2010, under Stuff, people

Have you ever thought a particular pro had an uncanny resemblance to a celebrity?  The idea has crossed my mind before and figured it would be interesting to see how many dudes agree with me.

Of course some of you may not agree (especially if you’re the pro), but I’m not saying they’re identical.  I’m just saying they can be bros.

Enjoy.

E.P. Ed- El Paso Photos

by Lalo on Feb.25, 2010, under people

Who is EpEd? Well, if you’ve ever ridden in the El Paso/Albuquerque area for a good amount of time, you have probably met him. The dude shreds silently. If you spot him at a skate park, you likely see him hanging 5 or busting 180 bars out of assorted obstacles. Eddie Welsh is his real name and he’s a cool dude to hang out with. I’ve known Ed for a really long time and he’s definitely come a long way. If you ever meet him, ask him “Why can’t we just go to Taco Bell?”.

These are 5 thing you should know about him:
1. He drives a pink car.
2. He used to be chubby as a kid but went on the BMX diet.
3. He doesn’t hold on tight to his grips (I gave him a set of Edwins once and they lasted forever).
4. He’s a pizza delivery guy
5. He looks like he should be a member of The Mars Volta

On top of all this, he’s got a good eye. Click more to see some of his work. (continue reading…)
